Registered Radiologist Assistant (RRA)
Position Summary

Job Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Assessment
- Obtain and evaluate patient histories, vital signs, and perform focused physical assessments
- Conduct thorough risk assessments prior to imaging procedures (e.g., medications, allergies, pregnancy status)
- Educate patients and families on procedures, risks, benefits, and post-care instructions
- Obtain informed consent in accordance with regulatory and departmental standards
- Monitor patients during and after procedures; identify and respond to complications or adverse reactions
Procedural & Technical Responsibilities
- Assist with and perform advanced imaging and interventional procedures under radiologist supervision, including:
- Lumbar punctures, joint injections/aspirations, arthrograms
- Fluoroscopic studies (e.g., GI studies, cystograms, cholangiograms, feeding tube placements)
- Operate fluoroscopic and imaging equipment; ensure image quality and completeness
- Administer contrast agents, radiopharmaceuticals, and prescribed medications
- Monitor and manage contrast reactions, including emergency response (e.g., anaphylaxis, cardiac events)
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner closely with radiologists, referring physicians, and multidisciplinary teams
- Present clinical findings clearly and concisely to supervising physicians
- Communicate radiology results per ACR guidelines
- Support patient flow and departmental efficiency initiatives
Documentation & Compliance
- Accurately document procedures, findings, and patient responses in the medical record
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and accreditation standards
- Report and follow up on adverse events within established timeframes
Quality Improvement & Research
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
- Contribute to patient satisfaction, workflow optimization, and clinical outcomes tracking
- Support clinical research activities, including patient enrollment and data collection
Professional Development & Leadership
- Maintain required certifications (RRA, BLS/CPR, ACLS, CME)
- Stay current with evolving imaging technologies and evidence-based practices
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to technologists and staff
- Participate in educational initiatives, training, and departmental conferences
